FAQ
Here are questions asked on the cuc-presidents@yahoogroups.com email discussion group.
Q: Do you have terms of reference for your committees and if so what is the process for creating and approving them?
A: We are revising our terms of ref (last year and this year) in an effort to standardize the description. We also look at creating meaningful measures of success/metrics for each committee which can be tracked monthly (along with the committees sense of passion and support needed. rb from uuch
Q: Do you have written contracts with your paid employees such as the administrator, children’s RE director, or for contracted work such as a custodian (cleaning person)?
A: We attempt to get as much written down as possible...sometimes job description only...contracts always preferred in my opinion. rb from uuch
Q: Do you have a limit to the length of time a board member can serve continuously on the board of trustees?
A: We have a weak limit in our bylaws; but limited terms are highly recommended in the n/p world. Even more important is being clear on how we recruit and orient/train those serving in any position. The central first consideration is "Are you passionate about this work? Is it meaningful to you right now? If the answer is no, this is not an appropriate shared ministry and burnout and less than excellent results will be a likely issue. rb from uuch
